Indoor Riding Hits Phoenix with the Launch of AZ Snow Zone

In a city known more for blistering heat than anything else, a new kind of snow sports facility just opened. AZ Snow Zone, the first indoor dry-slope park of its kind in the U.S., just opened in Phoenix—offering year-round opportunities to slide, all without a flake of real snow.

Founded by local snowboarder Joshua Sinclair, the park features a modular setup inside an air-conditioned warehouse, built with synthetic “Mushroom Dry Ski” turf that mimics the glide and edge feel of snow. (think foampit) There's a beginner ramp, rails, a jump, a trampoline, and full rental gear available on-site.

Sinclair spoke with 12News about his new spot:

“It’ll never be powder or slush,” he said. “But when that’s gone and it’s only ice, this is the next best thing.”

“I did a backyard setup and it was too hot, so I found a warehouse, added AC, and took it one style up.”

AZ Snow Zone is billed as more than just a novelty—at its best, it’s a training ground for park rats, a low-cost entry point for beginners, and a fun way to scratch the itch if you live in what I can only think of as the hottest place on earth, Phoenix.
