Snowbird is just one of the 26 resorts accessible through the newly released Ikon Pass. Matt Crawley / Alterra Mountain Company
There’s been a lot of chatter surrounding the new Ikon Pass from Alterra Mountain Company since it was announced last month, specifically how it would stack up against Vail’s infamous epic pass. On Thursday, the company put rumors and speculation to rest by releasing the official pricing and restrictions for the pass. With two passes, encompassing more than two dozen different resorts in nine U.S. States and Four Canadian provinces, Vail Resort's ubiquitous Epic Pass now has a formidable competitor in the season pass market.

According to Alterra’s latest press release, the pass is broken up into two tiers with varying levels of access and benefits. The Ikon Pass, starting at $899, offers unlimited access to 12 different resorts. Additionally the pass allows for seven days at six particular destinations and seven combined days spread out across at four destination groupings.
The resort list stacks up: Steamboat, Copper Mountain Resort, Jackson Hole, Squaw Valley, Revelstoke, Mammoth Mountain, Killington and Big Sky, just to name a few (for the complete resort list go here).
To sweeten the deal, regardless of unlimited or seven-day access, none of the resorts list blackout dates.
For the frugal skier, the Ikon Base Pass starts at $599, and will offer unlimited access to eight destinations. It also offers five total days at nine resorts as well as five days combined at the aforementioned four destination groupings (Aspen Snowmass, Alta-Snowbird, SkiBig3 and the "New England" grouping–Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Loon Mountain).
“The Ikon Pass is a collaboration of industry leaders–Alterra Mountain Company, Aspen Skiing Company, Boyne Resorts, POWDR, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Alta Ski Area, Snowbird, SkiBig3, Revelstoke Mountain Resort and Sugarbush Resort,” Alterra stated in a press release. “Each demonstrates integrity, character and independence that is reflected in their mountains and guests.”
For Vail and their Epic Pass, the company will now have to grapple with their new rival. The Epic Pass was originally the first of its kind, starting at $859, it offered unprecedented access to 45 different resorts. Now with the addition of the Ikon Pass, it will be curious to see how the game changes in the market of worldwide ski passes.

I do not see ANY mention of Stratton Mountain resort in the East…It also offers five total days at nine resorts as well as five days combined at the aforementioned four destination groupings (Aspen Snowmass, Alta-Snowbird, SkiBig3 and the “New England” grouping–Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Loon Mountain).”
Is Stratton included in the Ikon Base pass as well as the $899 Ikon, The Ikon Pass, starting at $899, offers unlimited access to 12 different resorts. Additionally the pass allows for seven days at six particular destinations and seven combined days spread out across at four destination groupings.”

The entry pass doesn’t seem to be so high as it will give you access to eight destinations. From the descriptions I have read about the place, it seems like a wonderful place for this season. It is more like wild and attracting to be in there.

Unsustainable logging practices and encroachment rankdle on the riverbanks have led to the loss of critical habitats for numerous species of plants and animals. The South Fork of the Salmon River serves as a haven for various threatened and endangered species, and their survival depends on our active conservation efforts.
