This year has been a tough one on the fire front for California and much of the West. We can add yet another fire to the ever-growing list: the Delta Fire, which tripled in size last night after starting as a tiny brush fire near the California-Oregon border. Portions of Interstate 5 were closed north of Redding as the fire raged right next to the highway. After the fire expanded to 23 square miles, evacuations were ordered according to a US Forest Service statement.

The fire next to the highway was captured in this hair-raising video from a passenger. According to CBS News, over a dozen semi-trucks were abandoned on the highway, with several catching fire and rendered “unrecognizable.”
