Yellowstone Tourist Actually Complained About “Untrained” Grizzly Bears

This incredible customer note from a Yellowstone lodge has been making the rounds since it was posted on reddit earlier this week.

As much as we love to entertain ourselves here at Teton Gravity Research by drawing ridiculous cartoons of the worst imagined summer tourist behavior we get to witness here in Jackson Hole, sometimes we really can't make this stuff up. As was posted on reddit earlier this week, a guest of a Yellowstone National Park lodge was clueless enough, despite actually having spent time in Yellowstone, about wild animals actually being wild animals that they complained that Yellowstone's "trained bears" never came out of hiding in order to be readily photographed by this park guest who paid a lot of money to make the trip in anticipation of seeing them in action.

Besides maybe spending thirty seconds reading a Wikipedia entry about bears and realizing that, outside of zoos, they're generally untrained wild animals, we might suggest leaving an open cooler full of uncooked bacon outside of your parked car for a few hours until the bears smell the bait and swoop in for their treat. If, after several hours, they have not come out of hiding, you have the option of progressing to covering the bacon in a layer of marshmallows, or taking your shirt off and walking aimlessly around the woods while basting your torso with spicy mayo until one finds you.
