Not even Mother Nature can escape the scorn of an upset person with an iPhone. Unfortunately, there are a few visitors that leave our National Parks not exactly feeling like the next Henry David Thoreau. Instead of prose and praise, disgruntled tourists love to pour their frustration into poorly crafted complaints on Yelp. That’s right, you can rate our National Parks on all kinds of review platforms, and the one-star reviews are a sight to behold.
Illustrator Amber Share decided to have a bit of fun and brought those cheeky reviews to life with a series she called Subpar Parks. They’re like those iconic National Park posters you can buy at the gift store except they adorned with ignorant comments from the aunt at your Thanksgiving dinner that no one likes.
Here are a few of our favorites from the series. On the subject of National Parks, if you’re a fan of our public lands, be sure to vote for them in mind come this election in November. Protect Our Winters has a great tool for making a plan to vote, which you can check out here.
