Powder Magazine and More Acquired by American Media Inc.

Powder, Surfer, Bike, and Snowboarder are a few publications that have been recently scooped up by American Media Inc (AMI). If you’ve spent any time at the grocery store you’ve seen a few of AMI’s other publications lining the checkout stand: The National Enquirer, Soap Opera Digest, Us Weekly, and Men’s Journal. It appears that the company is looking to move into the action sports realm.

According to Forbes, the media group acquired 14 adventure sports and media brands from TEN: Publishing’s Adventure Sports Network (ASN). All in all, it will boost the company’s sports category, which extends even to event management. The company will also now handle the Dew Tour and aims to execute several consumer experiential and content-driven events.

This isn’t the first time ASN has been acquired by new management. They’ve been moving from company to company consistently over the past few years, having been previously owned by Times Mirror Magazines, Time 4 Media, and TEN. In regards to the new change, ASN's office will remain in Carlsbad California.

Either way, the Wildcats' team captain is sadly laid up following an ACL tear. While in Park City for the Sundance Film Festival, Efron went on a guided-catskiing tour which ended in injury. Don't worry Zac, the TGR crew feels your pain and would like you to know that we're all in this together.
