Sugarloaf Opens Maine’s Newest Lift-Served Bike Park July 4
Popular Stories
Big news for East Coast riders: Sugarloaf, Maine’s legendary ski resort, is poking its head into the summer game with a brand-new, lift-accessed bike park set to open July 4, 2025.
The Whiffletree Express will be the park’s main lift, dishing up 1,000 feet of vertical per lap.
The star of opening day is Emerald, a freshly built, machine-cut flow trail that winds for three miles through berms, rollers, and jumps—designed to give everyone from first-timers to seasoned riders something to grin about. It's the first of several new trails slated to drop this season, with a beginner-friendly flow trail on track to open this fall.
But Sugarloaf isn’t building from scratch—the park also features OG gravity trails used in World Cup and Eastern States Cup downhill and enduro races. We can’t wait to get a taste of that classic east coast tech.
That includes NE juggernauts like Widowmaker Extension, Jackpot, and Rookie River—a trifecta of rugged, rooty descents that will satisfy your need for true jank. Awkward and difficult? Yes.

The park also features a full-service bike shop on site offering rentals, repairs, and everything else you need to get rolling. Just show up with your dome bucket and get ripping.
Lift Hours (First Season):
Fridays & Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sundays: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
(Weekend-only operations for now, so plan accordingly.)
Between Emerald’s flow and the old-school gnar, Sugarloaf is shaping up to be a must-hit this summer for Northeast gravity enjoyers. Whether you’re seeking east coast chunk or jsut looking for some mellow flow trails, Sugarloaf's got the stuff.
We’ll see you in the lift line.
