Mountain biking mistakes that adventure pros do not make but you may

Mountain biking is tough but a great activity for that adrenaline rush that you crave for. One or two escapades a week quickly bring you close to nature and help you stay fit too. However, similar to regular biking riders tend to make mistakes that spoil the entire effort. Here are some mountain biking mistakes that adventure pros do not make but you may.

Choice of bike

Many bike riders pick up the first bike available without due consideration given to its features. To choose the best beginner mountain bike you must keep the following factors in mind.

  • Wide and knobbed tires
  • Suspension fork and rear shock
  • Construction such that it is optimum to ride on hilly terrain
  • Disc brake that stops the bike when necessary
  • Gears which make it possible to climb heights

Apart from this, you also need to pay attention to the size and fit of the bike. If you are facing a problem while riding the reason could be that the seat fitting is not correct. Get the needful adjustments done before you purchase the same.

Wearing a helmet

You are riding a mountain for your personal reasons however still wearing a helmet is important for your safety. The mountain ground keeps changing and even a little bit of attention deficit can cause a severe accident. Apart from this other protective gear should also be worn. You might look funny but at least this ensures safety and helps you feel confident too.

Underestimating the effort that is needed

It is not easy to go for mountain rides and hence underestimating the same is a big folly. Instead of straight away going for big distances opt for small rides in the beginning phases at least. Mountain biking is a test of your fitness and strength and involves a lot of climbing and physical effort. To avoid feeling tired soon, focus on achieving small goals.

Keeping skill levels maintained

There are various skill levels that need to be followed during the entire process. First, learn how to use the bike and then move on to learning various skills. Once you have mastered all that go ahead and start biking for decent distances. Initially, you can follow a group that has done this before to get the hang of how it works.

Getting proper supplies

Do not forget to carry your supplies with you. A pretty hectic activity you might feel hungry and drained out. Carry simple snacks like bars, dry fruits, and an energy drink to keep you replenished. Along with keep your tools in case your bike has a breakdown it is best to be prepared.

Conclusion

These are just some of the mistakes that most people make while starting on their mountain biking escapades. However, if you are careful you might escape them and learn the basics soon enough. Always buy a great mountain biking as half of the mistakes are dependent on the choice not being made correctly. Once you handle all these aspects carefully there is no looking back for you as you fly across the mountains.
