Hiking can be one of the best outdoor activities for nature-lovers out there. It presents us with the opportunity to participate in something that gets our bodies moving and take in the beauty of nature. While hiking may seem like just another walk through the park, there is also much to be said about the physical prowess that hikers need to be able to fully engage in the activity. Consider these six preparations that can help you get ready for your upcoming outdoor excursion.

Fuel for Your Body

Hiking can take a significant toll on the body, as it requires a great deal of energy to participate. Not only do hikers walk for long distances, but they also can be navigating steep inclines and declines, natural obstacles and other environmental elements. These will require a consistent amount of fuel for your body, including protein, complex carbohydrates and key nutrients regularly. If you are unfamiliar with great sources of protein and may be wondering what is thrive, take some time to do some research around the best key resources for your needs while you are traversing the outdoors.

Hydrate Frequently

Hiking can be a high-intensity activity that takes a lot out of your body, and especially in warm weather, you may find yourself truly working up a sweat. This is why it is critical to remain properly hydrated throughout your trip. For longer journeys, you will also need to bring a water purifier, as you won’t want to lug around heavy jugs of water. Hydration is another necessary ingredient for your body to function, so be sure to bring plenty of water with you and avoid foods that are high in salt or sugar.

Protect Yourself From the Sun

While you may find yourself surrounded by the natural canopy of the environment, it is important that you also be prepared with sun protection throughout your hike. This includes sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and proper clothing to ensure that you avoid sun damage during your trip. If you will be exposed to the sun’s rays at any point of your hiking trip, you will need to ensure that you have the proper protections.

Wear the Proper Attire

Choosing the right clothing is necessary when you are preparing for your hike. Temperatures can vary considerably from evening hours to midday and can also change depending on your level of elevation and amount of natural coverage. Check the weather before you venture out so that you know what type of weather you will be dealing with. Layers and the right choice of fabric are critical, so ensure that you have plenty of breathable, but comfortable layers. Don’t forget to wear proper hiking shoes that are sufficiently broken in.

Pack Only the Essentials

For those who have ever ventured out on a hiking trip before, you are likely well aware of how heavy your pack can feel after a few miles. This extra weight can weigh down your walk and also your outdoor experience. Make sure that when you load up your hiking bag, you only pack the essentials. This will keep you from having to exert too much energy lugging around an unnecessarily heavy pack which will leave you with more energy to enjoy your hiking experience.

Prepare Your Body Prior to Your Trip

While you need to pack your bag, make sure that you also prepare your body for this excursion. This can be a taxing activity and therefore requires that you be physically ready for the hiking trip. Make sure that you have prepared your body to build the strength, cardio endurance, flexibility and balance to navigate your outdoor adventure. Keep in mind that researching your trip and what physicality will be necessary to engage will be an important step of preparation.

Hiking can range from physically demanding to casual strolls through nature. Particularly for more intense and extensive trips, this activity requires quite a bit of preparation. While you can certainly venture out into nature, if you want to set your trip up for success, you will need to be well prepared.

Chinese Everest Expedition to Make Summit Push

Everest as seen from China. Wikipdia photo. While Mt. There has been little Everest news as of late, minus that involving 5G towers, but according to the Adventure Blog, the Chinese
