Packing for Your Camping Trip

Camping is a fun way to get out and enjoy the outdoors. It can help you understand nature, as well as help you appreciate the modern-day technology we have at our homes. It’s important that you are prepared when you go on one of these trips though. The last thing you want is to realize that you forgot something important when you are at the campsite. Here is a list of gear you should bring on your next camping adventure.

Lodging

You want to have somewhere to sleep when you camp. A tent or RV are two of the most popular choices. If you are using a tent, you should make sure there is no damage to it. If you are in a camper, make sure you have the proper tools to make it steady and level.

Light

Having a light is important, especially when you are out in the middle of the woods. Having a flashlight or solar power system can help you have electricity to see what you are doing. Solar is a great way to naturally capture sunlight during the day to have at night.

Bed

It’s good to be as comfortable as possible when you’re out camping, especially while you’re sleeping. Having a sleeping bag and pillow is a good place to start. If you have space, a foam pad, or even blow up mattress underneath you will give you more support. Getting a good night's sleep can give you more energy to accomplish activities during the day.

Clothing

Make sure that you pack enough clothing. You should be aware of the potential temperatures and climates of the place where you are camping. You also want to pack the right footwear. Your feet are very important and can cause you to be miserable if you do not have the right equipment for them.

Food

You should have plenty of food for your trip. Make sure to bring snacks that you can be eaten throughout the day, as this can give you energy and sustenance. Have a plan for how you are going to cook and store your food, as you don’t want animals to be able to get into it. Don’t forget to pack drinks as well. Staying hydrated is extremely important.

Medicines

It’s always good to be prepared for an emergency even though you don’t want to encounter one. Having a first aid kit with some general supplies is wise to bring along. Bandages, wraps, and antibiotic cream are good for minor injuries. You should also add pain relievers just in case of headaches or body fatigue.

Accessories

Having general accessories in your bags can make life easier while out camping. You may only have a limited amount of space but look for travel size items that will allow you to bring everything. Having a knife and hatchet can help you make fires and clear a campsite out for you. Other things like rope and a hammer can help you set up camp easier. Dishes and utensils also make cooking and eating simple.

Navigation

If you go camping in the woods, one of your primary concerns should be that you don’t get lost. Be familiar with the area you are going to be staying at. You should have some type of GPS, compass, or map to help you stay familiar with the terrain and show you where you are.

Phone

Most people do not go anywhere without their cell phone. It’s good to bring one on your trip in case of an emergency. While people often go camping to get away from electronics and a fast lifestyle, you do not have to use it. It’s just wise to have it close if needed.

Toiletries

Even though it’s camping, you still want to stay clean. You can find sanitizer and soaps in small bottles that will make it easier to carry and use for the trip. You want to be neat and healthy just as you would be at home. Deodorant, toothpaste, and brushes can still be used while out camping.

Camping is a great way to vacation or getaway for a few days. There are many places to camp, making it something you can do almost anywhere.

Chinese Everest Expedition to Make Summit Push

Everest as seen from China. Wikipdia photo. While Mt. Everest might be closed to foreigners, a single Chinese commercial climbing expedition has been on the mountain for the past few weeks acclimatizing and waiting for a weather window to make a summit push. If they succeed, it would likely make them the only humans to stand on the planet’s high point this year. There has been little Everest news as of late, minus that involving 5G towers, but according to the Adventure Blog, the Chinese

Chinese Everest Teams Are On Their Way To Summit

Two Chinese teams on Everest launched their summit bids earlier this week. Pixabay photo. After Nepal and China completely blocked foreign access to Mt. Everest for this climbing season during the COVID-19 pandemic, two Chinese teams were allowed on the mountain. One team is a commercial expedition, while the other is a group of researchers who are there to make the most accurate survey the mountain yet while there is no traffic on the peak.
