The perfect accessory to any hike. ManCan photo.
Packing alcoholic refreshments into the backcountry can sometimes be a difficult proposition. Personally, I like to go with a small plastic bottle of some high class spirits like Jim Beam or Jack Daniels. Other friends that I know are not above tossing a couple cans of PBR into the mix for a mid-activity thirst quencher. Some companies like Pat's Backcountry Beverages have you carbonate your own beer from a syrup solution.

Now there is another option for the true craft beer connoisseurs. This is called the the ManCan. The ManCan is a portable, keg-sized growler that will keep your beer brewery-fresh. It is made from stainless steel, and can be pressurized with a custom system to keep optimal carbonation. It comes in two sizes, a 64 oz. and 128 oz. option.
The ManCan is small enough to stow in a backpack for all types of adventures. It can be used for any type of carbonated beverage, like kombucha or soft drinks. I don't know if I would recommend it for a long hike, but for a day on the raft or a small sunset escape, nothing would be better than a cold, carbonated beer.

Thanks, but I think I’ll just stick with my non liquid refreshments that usually only weigh and eighth of an ounce.
