Be Vacation Prepared: 10 Extra Items to Pack

A huge part of the enjoyment of any vacation is the anticipation of the vacation. But one big to-do prior to your first day of vacation is to make sure you pack all of your luggage which can be a bit stressful without a plan. While there are the typical items you need to ensure you have such as clothing and personal hygiene items, here are ten items you might not initially think about bringing along that will help your vacation be more enjoyable and successful.

Binder Clips

This might sound unusual but grab a binder clip from your desk and pack it because it can come in handy in a number of ways. One helpful thing it can do is keep curtains in a hotel room closed so it’s as dark as possible for sleeping or you can use it to keep cords from becoming tangled in your bag. You also can utilize it to cover a sharp item like a razor.

Essential Oils

When traveling, it is not unusual to have a number of health and wellness issues pop up and having an easy solution to solve them is nice. Utilizing oils like Young Living Essential Oils can help you bounce back from stress, sleep woes, upset stomachs, headaches while on the go. Utilizing them to help freshen up a hotel room or rental can be a welcome touch of home too. There are travel-size diffusers and many oils can be directly applied to your body as well.

Plastic Bags

Throwing an extra couple of kitchen trash bags in your luggage is always a good idea to help you travel with any damp or wet clothing items or shoes or anything that might become dirty and you do not want it to damage or dirty other items in your luggage. It also can be a great way to separate dirty and clean laundry throughout the trip. Smaller size silicone or plastic bags are also great for storing items that might leak during your travels.

Money Belt

Whenever you are traveling, you will need to have at least some cash and credit cards on you, but it can be a bit unnerving to carry a regular purse around at times. With pickpocketing and theft common situations that can quickly ruin a relaxation vacation, having an easy and unobtrusive way to carry valuables is important. Consider buying a slim money belt so you can keep your valuables as close to your body as possible. Some belts might also be able to hold a cell phone which is helpful too.

Duct Tape

There are dozens of ways duct tape can save the day on a trip. Everything from a rip in a shoe to a hole in a window screen, duct tape is a quick and cheap fix to solving a lot of annoyances on a trip. Duct tape can also keep your children safe if you do not have access to typical safety devices like electrical outlet covers or plugs. Another lesser thought of use for a major safety issue is to utilize it to help keep smoke out of a hotel room in the very unfortunate case of a fire. Utilize it to seal around doors or cover air vents could add precious minutes to you and your family’s safety and hope for escape.

Portable Power Bank

With most of us utilizing our smart phones for nearly everything on a trip and particularly utilizing it for capturing memories via camera or video camera, making sure to always have enough power is essential. A portable power bank can easily be charged nightly wherever you are staying and then it can help give your smart phone a full extra charge or multiple extra charges as you utilize your phone throughout the day without needing an electrical outlet. The prices of portable power banks are very reasonable and you can use it for years to come.

Quick-Dry Towel

Whether you get stuck in a rainstorm or just lack towels wherever you are, a quick-dry towel is relatively thin and easy to pack but will dry quickly especially if you can find a sunny spot for it. While it will not be the most plush towel you have utilized, it will be the most efficient towel when traveling.

Baby Wipes

Even if you have never bought baby wipes, you will learn to love them once you bring them on a trip. They are so inexpensive and easy to utilize for nearly every situation where a clean-up might be needed. They also are great for wiping down yourself and can be a substitute for toilet paper or paper towel.

Reusable Water Bottle

Bringing your own personal water bottle allows you to have fresh, tasty water anywhere you go. Fill it with water after you pass through airport security so you can have access to water on your flight which are incredibly dehydrating. Even if you think you’ll have access to bottled water, it is safer to utilize a quality stainless steel water bottle or glass bottle with a sleeve to avoid your water sitting in hot plastic and potentially leaching chemicals into your water. You can also still buy a large plastic jug of water but just refill your smaller bottle for your day adventures.

Document Copies

While this might sound like the last thing you want to do prior to your vacation, making an extra copy of your important travel documents is invaluable should you find yourself with lost or stolen documents on your trip. Make sure to keep the copies in a very safe place and separate from your actual travel documents. If the unthinkable happens and you lose your original documents, having copies will make the reporting process and solution so much easier for you.

Going on vacation requires a lot of packing, but by adding the ten extra items listed above to your luggage, it will help your trip be less stressful if there are any unexpected things that come up during your trip. You will be surprised at the ways you can use the items listed above and soon they will become your travel essentials.

Chinese Everest Expedition to Make Summit Push

Everest as seen from China. Wikipdia photo. While Mt. Everest might be closed to foreigners, a single Chinese commercial climbing expedition has been on the mountain for the past few weeks acclimatizing and waiting for a weather window to make a summit push. If they succeed, it would likely make them the only humans to stand on the planet’s high point this year. There has been little Everest news as of late, minus that involving 5G towers, but according to the Adventure Blog, the Chinese
