Beartooth Basin in Wyoming is set to open for the summer season on May 28, 2025, weather permitting, after missing last year due to low snowfall. The Beartooth Highway, crucial for access, is scheduled to open Friday, allowing the ski area a few days to prepare and train staff before welcoming guests.

Originally planning to open on Memorial Day (May 26), the adjusted date gives the team time to get ready. The lifts will run daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until closing on July 6.

Known for its no-frills, backcountry-style skiing, Beartooth Basin operates only in summer, unlike other resorts with winter seasons. It offers 600 acres of challenging terrain served by two high-speed platter lifts—without base lodges or warming huts. Lift tickets are $50, with season passes at $395, making it an affordable option for dedicated summer skiers.

The ski area, established in the 1960s, was listed for sale last summer but continues to operate independently, seeking buyers who value its community-driven approach.
