Freeride World Tour Reschedules Georgia Pro After Avalanche Delays

After avalanche delays, the Freeride World Tour has rescheduled the Georgia Pro for March 1 at the Kakhiani face. Expect high-stakes freeriding on variable snow conditions.

After an avalanche delay, the Freeride World Tour (FWT) has officially rescheduled the Georgia Pro event for Saturday, March 1. The competition will return to the Kakhiani face, the same venue that hosted its first-ever FWT Pro event in 2024.

The delay was caused by unstable snow conditions that initially forced organizers to relocate the event to the Kaseb face. However, mitigation efforts on Kaseb triggered multiple significant avalanches, making it too dangerous for competition. After reassessing conditions, organizers determined that Kakhiani now offers the safest and best venue for the freeride showdown.

Standing at 10,400 feet with a 1,082-foot vertical drop, the Kakhiani face is well-known for its technical terrain and high-speed lines. Competitors and fans will remember it from last season when Marcus Goguen and Sybille Blanjean delivered standout performances in some of Georgia’s finest freeride terrain.

While the venue is set, athletes will face another challenge: variable snow conditions. Strong overnight winds between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour have compacted the snowpack, creating a firm surface that will demand precise technique and powerful riding.

Despite the conditions, the FWT roster is filled with world-class riders who are no strangers to unpredictable mountain environments. With just two stops left before the qualification cut, the stakes are high, and athletes will be pushing their limits to secure a spot in the finals.

The Georgia Pro is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. CET on Saturday. Stay tuned for updates and watch the action unfold as the best freeriders in the world take on the Kakhiani face.
