Not too heavy, not too light, the Stio Origins Jacket is perfect for being active outside, or for simply walking around town on a brisk day. Made with Polartec® Wind Pro fabric with Hardface™ Technology, the Origins is wind and water resistant enough to handle serious outdoor activities, but has enough style that it works for visits to the coffee shop or to the pub. That’s Stio’s whole vibe—the company creates active wear appropriate for everyday use.
In case you haven’t heard, Stio is a new Jackson, Wyoming-based outdoor clothing company founded by Stephen Sullivan, who co-founded Cloudveil. Stio officially opened its doors to its flagship store in the fall of 2012 with its fall and winter line. The company now sells mostly through its website and catalogue.
I’ve owned the Origins Jacket for about two months. At first, I only wore it casually around town. But right now, the spring skiing on Snow King – Jackson’s local hill – has been all time. Functioning much like a soft shell, the Origins Jacket has been perfect for skinning up and skiing down the King, as well as sporting at the local pub.

I’m stoked I went with the black color with green zippers. The fabric is kind of shiny, the type that stays looking new even after a few washes. I believe that’s the Polartec® Wind Pro fabric with Hardface™ Technology. Dribble beer down your front at the bar, and it just beads away.
Overall, the Stio line is filled with items perfect for puttering around your mountain town as well as summiting its peaks. I’m not the only one who likes this jacket – no less than three friends have the same one in the same color, and honestly, strangers ask me about it when I walk around town. As one of its first offerings, the Origins Jacket is a good representation of the Stio aesthetic. Check out the spring line that just dropped and support the newest Jackson-based apparel company.
