Booker’s Bourbon is intense, but treat it responsibly and you’ll find it’s one of the better sipping whiskeys available. Uncut and unfiltered, bottled straight from the barrel, this bourbon is hardcore. It’s best enjoyed with ice or cut with water. Don’t let your buddy order you a shot of Booker’s at 1:15 a.m. in the bar – that would just be foolish, as the finish is long, and fiery. This whiskey is for slow sipping earlier in the evening.

Aged 6 to 8 years with a proof of 121 to 127, Booker Noe, Jim Beam’s grandson and the sixth generation master distiller, first created Booker’s Bourbon as a Christmas gift for his close friends and family. And that’s perhaps when this bourbon is best enjoyed – in the darkest, coldest months of the winter.

I keep Booker’s around for an after-work nip and for when good friends stop by my house and want to sit down and have a long, involved conversation. Deep, dark and smoky, taking a shot of this would be a crime, as would mixing it with any type of soda. This is the type of stuff that makes hair grow in strange places on your body.

Be a grown-ass man, buy some Booker’s and keep it stowed away in a safe place for special times. If you keep it in plain sight, you may find yourself pouring it all too often. Enjoy.
