Well, here we go. Colorado’s Wolf Creek Ski Area just announced they will be opening this weekend October 16-17 after a 14-inch winter storm blew in this past weekend, making them the earliest ski resort to open in the lower 48 for the winter! [UPDATE: Arapahoe Basin has also announced they will open Black Mountain Express lift and the High Noon run on Sunday October 17]. Wolf Creek will be running the Treasure Stoke, Nova and Lynx lifts, and warns guests to expect early season conditions. Tickets will go at discounted rates of $60 for adults, $41 for seniors and $31 for children. Lift tickets to the Lynx and Nova Lifts only will be $40 for all ages.Trails that will be open from top to bottom are Tranquility, Treasure, Navajo Trail, and Summer Days. Other partial trails that will be available include: Bonanza Road, Powder Puff and Charisma. A scenic hike from the top of Treasure across Exhibition to Divide Trail will give access to Divide Trail and Kelly Boyce. Nova, Susan’s and Foxy will be open for beginners. What more is there to say? Go skiing!
