Two Avalanches Close Teton Pass, Triggers Unknown

Two slides triggered on Mt. Glory above WY-22 near the top of Teton Pass have closed the highway between Wilson and the Idaho State Line. The first slide came down from Glory Bowl at around 12:25PM, according to the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center, and deposited two to three feet of snow across roughly 100 feet of highway. A delivery truck was caught in the slide, but both it and its driver are fine.

The second slide happened about an hour later in the Twin Slides zone, and left up to ten feet of snow over a smaller portion of highway. It is unclear what triggered the slides, and no skiers or snowboarders were caught. WYDOT and Highway Patrol have been trying to clear cars from the top of the pass so they can begin avalanche mitigation work, but expect the pass to remain closed all day and into the night.
