Today is a sad day in the action sports industry, as news broke that the legendary publications Powder, Snowboarder, Bike, and Surfer Magazines are closing their doors. According to athletes and some staff at the publications, the four titles are being shut down by their owner American Media, which also owns publications like Men’s Journal. American Media has not yet put forth an official statement on the matter, but it seems Bike and Surfer staff were furloughed on Friday, with Powder and Snowboarder continuing through the end of the month.

For decades, Powder, Snowboarder, Bike, and Surfer were leading voices in the action sports media world, inspiring generations to go out and pursue their dreams in the mountains and in the ocean. For the past 25 years, TGR has long worked hand-in-hand with these titles to tell stories about our films, athletes, and the culture of living the dream, and much of what we do would not have been possible without their help.
We’re gutted to see them go and wish the best of luck to our friends who worked incredibly hard to make these legendary avenues of storytelling possible.
