Jeremy Bloom is Changing X Games For Good
Popular Stories
After the Olympics, X Games is perhaps the most common way that competitive skiing and snowboarding hits the eyes of the general public. The greatest athletes in action sports have at some time or another found themselves at the X games. And for good reason-- with consistent prize purses and serious media exposure, the event can be a tried and true gateway for securing sponsorships-- the lifeblood of any professional career. These financial endorsements make it possible to fund travel, healthcare, film projects, and training. In other words, the things that keep the dream alive.
Enter Jeremy Bloom.
The New Face of the X Games
Bloom, the new CEO of the X Games, is no stranger to the high-octane. As a three-time World Champion, two-time Olympian, and 11-time World Cup Gold Medalist in freestyle skiing and moguls, Bloom’s athletic résumé is unmatched. Oh, and did we mention he was also drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2006 NFL Draft?
Bloom’s journey from skiing prodigy to NFL player, and later to co-founding a successful enterprise software company, has given him a rare perspective: he knows what it takes to succeed both on the field and in the boardroom. Now, he’s back in the sports world, leading the X Games into a new era.
Since the X Games was sold in 2022, Bloom has been at the forefront of its reinvention. His vision? Expand the brand globally, build stronger media partnerships, and, most importantly, create systems that provide financial stability for athletes.
The X Games League: A Bold New Format
At the heart of Bloom’s plan is the newly announced X Games League—a groundbreaking structure inspired by traditional sports leagues. The League will feature eight teams (four winter, four summer), each with ten athletes (five male, five female). Teams will be owned by private equity groups or high-net-worth individuals, with a draft taking place at the end of the year.
Athletes in the League will enjoy unprecedented benefits:
- Salaries to provide financial security.
- Travel expenses covered.
- Health insurance stipends to support their well-being.

The new setup gets fans closer to the action as well. From Fantasy Leagues to legalized betting on X Games events, the League format is designed to engage.
For non-drafted athletes, the door isn’t closed. They’ll still have the chance to compete in X Games events, earn individual medals, and prove their worth for future drafts.
Media and Accessibility: A New Era
Another major shift? X Games’ partnership with Roku. While events like X Games Aspen will still air on ABC and ESPN, Roku’s 90 million subscribers will have access to free streams—making the X Games more accessible than ever.
What’s Next for the X Games?
The X Games League is just the beginning. With innovations like AI-driven judging and fresh event formats, Bloom aims to redefine action sports while staying true to its roots.
As the League takes shape, one thing is clear: the future of the X Games is as exciting as the athletes who compete in it.
