Skier Michael Strauss takes a wrong turn, survives

Many a skier knows the rush of ripping a semi-blind run. Quick decision making can be the difference between a bone-crunching yard sale and luxiurious face fulls of fluffy powder. Uncertain of what lies over the ridgeline, this type of riding involves a curious blend of fear and confidence. It can be exhilarating, but as we see in the case of this skier, it could cost you your life. Happily, Strauss seems to have made it out unscathed. A few feet to the right, however, and this clip might not be as fun to watch. While we can feel our stomachs drop from the safety of our couch, this one serves as a good reminder to know what you’re dropping into before you launch.
