Sit Skier David “Madman” Poole’s Been Hogging All The Faceshots

David “Madman” Poole would have answered differently to the question “Where do you see yourself a decade from now?” on his hospital bed the day after severing his spinal cord falling off a cliff while skiing 10 years ago. Poole was in no mood to even think about the outdoors. He thought playtime was over.

But then this video happened, and Poole took his crushed 21 year-old mindset, put it on a sit ski, and the rest is history. Ask the X Games; he and his sit ski also sent it there.

Working with paralysis takes patience most cannot fathom, but Poole has nailed it. His reward? Faceshots for days.

Poole mentions on his blog that his goal is to “Lead others by showing them what is possible,” and that he does. With nostrilfuls of powder, Poole demonstrates just how he has changed perspectives on what’s possible after losing the use of your legs.

Nobody appreciates a smack in the face, but if it’s snow, smack away. And if you’re on a sit ski, seize the day. Engage your inner Madman. We all must.
