Scenic Sessions from the Travels

Traveling around and filming skiing and snowboarding is a great job. We wake up early and head into the mountains and stay out late. The last hour of the day holds the key to film and photography. We call it the magic hour. I always find myself driving around in the off season without a camera having a magic hour moment. All of a sudden my senses awaken and things begin to look surreal. Here are some photos from the winter. Most were taken during the early or late hours of the day.

Face Melting Sunset over Pond

**This is a sunset in front of my house. I came home from a day in the mountains and things started going off. I ran in and grabbed my camera and frantically started firing shots. There was very little light and I had no tripod, so I had to use a makeshift rig. None the less I scored the shot.**

Jackson Hole Celebrates the New Tram

**Here is a photo from the opening of the New Jackson Hole Tram Celebration. We waited two years for the new tram. They were two tough years. The lift system at JH was built around the fact that there is a tram going from the top to the bottom. The lift system had many problems without the tram. Thousands of people came out to welcome the return of Big Red.**

Peaks in the North Cascades

**I have been lucky to spend a bunch of time in the North Cascades over the past few years. The mountains are incredible. Mazama is a great little town.**

Morning on Top of the World

**Orange is the color of the Ski Patrol. They use orange rope, orange closed signs, orange flagging, and orange sleds.  This photo shows the patrols preperation amongst the solitude of the early morning. I bet these sles have seen some verticle.**

Sunrise over Teton Pass

**I live in Victor, Idaho on the other side of Teton Pass. I see lots of cool things on my drive. Here is a morning sunrise on the commute.**

**Here is the avi shed at Last Frontier Heli skiing. This is a cool little building next to the heli port. You hope you do not have to use this too much.**

Driggs Idaho. Farming in the Tetons

**I was driving down the road one dy and saw all this old farm equipment framing up the epic view of the Tetons in Driggs, Idaho. Driggs is different from Jackson. Driggs is still a small town, where ranching and farming are part of the economy.**

The Jackson Hole tram climbs through the mist

**Here is the JH Tram climbing through the mist. There is nothing like blasting through the clouds and into the sun on the red spaceship on a powder day. This was a particularly good powder day. You can almost feel the energy that is in this tram from this perspective.**

Mystical Peaks through a sea of dreams

**This shot was taken in Haines, Alaska this year. We had almost five weeks of blower conditions. the trick was that we were riding in the middle of the storm. It made for some incredible reveals of the mountains.**

Jackson hole Ski Patrol Shack at the Top of the World**The top building in Jackson Hole houses Corbet's Cabin and the Jackson Hole Ski Patrols's top base area. This is where the patroller stage from for Avalanche control and on mountain work and rescues. Notice the hot sauce in the window. These guys are tough bastards.**
