Sam Smoothy Bags Another First Descent in Magic Hour

Sam Smoothy’s ski career has never been one to be pigeonholed into a single category. After cutting his teeth on the Freeride World Tour, the Kiwi skier turned to riding big mountain lines in pow - and has now evolved further to push his human-powered skiing to new heights. Literally. This past year, after a long hiatus from traveling thanks to the pandemic, Smoothy rejoined his good friend Christina Lustenberger in British Columbia to nab a few first descents. Catch the Volkl and the The North Face athlete’s full segment and watch him put together the puzzle of ski mountaineering in Magic Hour at tetongravity.com/films/magic-hour.

If you look closely at Smoothy's nose, you'll get an idea of how cold it was on these missions. | TGR photo.
