Results + Winning Runs: FWT21 Verbier Finals

Oh boy, what a way to end the season for the Freeride World Tour. The Xtreme Verbier is always a treat to watch, given that it’s held on one of the most classic venues in freeriding: the infamous Bec de Rosses. It’s an imposing face to ski or ride, but when conditions line up and the stoke is firing, it becomes an arena for history to be made. That’s exactly what happened just a few short hours ago during the final stop of the 2021 Freeride World Tour. Check out the highlights and winning runs of what went down this year in Verbier.

Snowboard Women:

Marion Haerty completed an astonishing perfect season in FWT21 – the first athlete ever to do so – taking a win at every event of the season. She put down a fluid run with three solid airs taken with her characteristic confidence. Katie Anderson took second, producing an express line for her debut on the Bec, with a couple of drops and a stylish method to lock in her spot on the podium. Erika Vikander again showed off some technical riding in the steeps and completed a fluid run top to bottom to take third.

Ski Women:

Verbier local Elisabeth Gerritzen earned her second Xtreme Verbier Crown and the FWT Title with a huge performance on the Bec. She put herself straight into a precarious zone and made the most of it with two big airs up top, before charging the rest of her line at speed and finishing with a massive air. Reigning FWT champion Arianna Tricomi ripped a fluid line with multiple and her trademark 360 to take second place. Hedvig Wessel went straight into the guts of the gnar and chose a super technical line incorporating multiple airs in the steepest zone of the face for a third place finish.

Snowboard Men:

Victor De Le Rue made short work of the Bec, sending a full-throttle line with zero hesitation to take the Verbier Crown and the overall FWT Title. With skill like only he possesses, Victor first pointed a huge double drop and linked this with a floaty 360 straight into another cliff at warp speed. Cody Bramwell put down another dominant performance with a solid line, starting with two airs in the steeps, then linking to a risky 360 above some serious consequences into a big air with no hesitation, followed up by another backflip down low to take second place. Third place went to Blake Moller for his freestyle chops in big terrain, floating a massive 360 up high before linking another huge air at the bottom.

Ski Men:

Kristofer Turdell completed his season goal and dream of winning the Xtreme Verbier with an epic display of his strength and big mountain dominance. Kristofer charged a crispy clean line, which featured multiple airs up top, a picture-perfect cliff in the middle and a backflip to finish. Former Xtreme Verbier Champion Wadeck Gorak unveiled a line loaded with airs and huge tricks, starting with a big double in the steeps, linked this with a 360 and finished with two trademark backflips to claim a second place finish. Third place was clinched by none other than Aymar Navarro for casually stomping the biggest double in the venue, showcasing his all-strength approach to freeriding.
