Product Recall: Black Diamond Recon LT Avalanche Transceiver
Black Diamond Equipment®, in coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, has issued a recall for the Black Diamond Recon LT avalanche transceiver and related safety sets due to a corrosion issue that could lead to device failure. Recon LT owners are eligible for a repair, exchange, or refund.
The issue stems from potential corrosion in the transceiver’s switch mechanism, which may cause the device to malfunction or turn off unexpectedly. If this occurs in the backcountry, it could interfere with avalanche rescue efforts—posing a serious safety risk. Black Diamond urges all Recon LT owners to immediately stop using the device and follow the recall instructions.
So far, there have been six reports of this issue, but no injuries, accidents, or fatalities. Black Diamond is working proactively to resolve the problem and ensure user safety.
