Pro Snowboarder Luca Pandolfi Killed in Avalanche
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that a member of the TGR family and Jones snowboard clan, Italian big-mountain snowboarder Luca Pandolfi, was killed in an avalanche in the Alps yesterday. The accident occurred in Italy’s Val D’Aosta near the Mont Blanc Massif, where Pandolfi lived. Pandolfi was a pioneer of snowboard mountaineering and big-mountain freeriding, tackling beautiful objectives all over the world, often with his friend Jeremy Jones. The two rode together in the Himalaya for TGR’s snowboard movie Higher.
It was not just the mountains that brought him joy. He loved a good cup of coffee, or glass of wine enjoyed on the patio with friends. His overall enthusiasm for life would fill a room, and elevate the energy of everyone around him. He was a true dreamer with the dedication and follow through to make good on his dreams, and the humility and respect for the mountains that allowed him to back off a big line if things did not feel right.
