The maker of those sunglasses is dropping another line of snow goggles to their collection. As much as the goggles look cool and function well (hopefully), the moment offers an opportunity to reflect on where action sports culture has been, and where it's headed.

Pulling from 1980s, 90s, and early 00s nostalgia, the marketing big-brains over at Pit Viper have built something of an eyewear empire.
The company caught fire over sunglasses that were meant to become a meme: highly visible, highly durable, and meant to tell everyone around that you are indeed a sender.
Social media started doing its thing, and the Pit Viper ethos found fertile ground in mountain towns everywhere. (Think "Performance meets Party.") Fast forwards to now, their sunglasses are ubiquitous. Anywhere people ride boards, bikes, and skis, you see the Pit Vipers. And for around $100, you can protect your eyes and be a part of the culture, too.
The company expanded beyond sunglasses long ago, and with the release of the BN5000 snow goggles, they're doubling down on what made them pop in the first place: high-performance eyewear that draws attention.
The Goggles
Underneath all the loud colors and memes, Pit Viper does in fact make legit gear. The BN5000s come loaded with tech you actually want on a storm day: dual-layer anti-fog lenses, a 360° Hyperventilator frame, and HDPV optics for crisp contrast when the light goes flat. The best part, the Magic Magnet lens-swap system lets you change tints faster than a liftie can shotgun a beer.
Each pair ships with a bonus low-light lens, full UVA/UVB protection, and a rubberized 50mm strap keeps everything snug. They offer five colorways: The Genesis, The Combustion, The Night Rider, The Exec, and The Miami Nights.
