What a great day and a great event! 120 competitors signed up to battle the mountain, the snow conditions and the gnarly course that Daron Rahlves & Kirkwood set up. The snow conditions could best be described as challenging & variable and participants braved gusty conditions at the top of Chair 10 as they waited their turn to tackle the course.
There were thrills and spills but all made it down in one piece! The man Daron Rahlves set the benchmark completing the course in just over a minute with the fastest qualifiers just seconds behind his time. 32 male skiers, 16 male snowboarders, 8 female skiers & 16 female snowboarders will move on to the finals tomorrow and compete for a share of the $10,000 prize purse.
Today was a great warm up but tomorrow we will see the real action as the finalists race head-to-head four at a time through the course – not to be missed!
