Teton Gravity Research

Dane is a determined, focused all round athlete. He enjoys shredding deep powda, popping pillows and hauling ass down big mtn faces. He is a PowdaHound! In the summer he enjoys shredding brown pow on his bike, rippin up rocks, roots and rubber.

TGR’s 26th annual film release STOKE THE FIRE explores our athletes’ evolution within skiing and the pure joy that manifests from that process. The stoke means different things to different people based on where they are in their evolution. For some it is about committing to a new world, a lifestyle, and the friendships that blossom from that commitment. The choice to enter this world is a spark, and with every new experience the fire grows. With more knowledge comes more exploration, both physically and geographically, that helps to understand what those raw experiences connected with nature do for the soul. With more experience an examination of our shared history becomes important, and ultimately some of us might want to test our limits at the upper echelon of what is possible by drawing upon the sum of our knowledge and experiences. While the answers we find are different for everyone the pursuit of this evolution is something sacred, the pursuit is what stokes the fire.

 Dear Earth,


 TGR is far from perfect, but we are trying and will continue to evolve as we seek to minimize our own footprint. We realize the impact we have had on the environment, but also recognize the opportunity we have about using our platform to offset that not only economically but through increased messaging. Whether through films like Ode to Muir or Roadless, through partnerships with like-minded organizations like Leave No Trace, Sierra Nevada, Aspiration Bank, POW, Surfrider, 1% and more, our goal is to minimize the negative impact we have while ensuring that the benefits outweigh that impact.


 Some of the things we do:


 &#8211; Carbon offsets: In 2021, TGR supported removing 400.00 MtCO2e. &#8211; TGR HQ is powered by 100 % local green power. &#8211; Focusing more and more on foot-powered missions and Leave No Trace principles while filming. &#8211; We use recycled materials whenever possible in TGR Supply products. We need you, and will continue to do everything in our power to support you.

Witness mind-bending pillow lines as the crew camps out deep in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia. Experience urban madness in Kamchatka and the insanity of the Crazy Mountains in Montana. Join the crew in the Slovenian Alps for over-the-head cold smoke and watch an 11-year-old rip Jackson Hole. Discover the alien landscape of Girdwood, Alaska in January and see Sean Jordan ride into Crested Butte on a black stallion to shred the Southern Rockies. Find out if the wildest and most untamed mountains in Europe let us in, and if the ultimate destination became a reality.

Since the dawn of time, everything that has lived and breathed on this planet has been subject to the whims of Mother Nature. The nature of an adventurer is inherently rogue; typically wild in character, subject to the fancy of their imagination. We are unequivocally drawn to nature’s rawest fury and deepest mysteries.  In the winter of 2017, the magnitude of winter&#8217;s force was on full display. Telephone-pole-snapping storms pounded the Wyoming landscape. Regions to the west, recently left arid and forgotten, were gifted with unprecedented accumulation. Blizzards in Europe buried towns in an instant before disappearing just as fast, leaving the lucky few who were there to wonder if it even happened. A Bolivian expedition found grace above 18,000 feet before the elements went rogue and the humans reluctantly heeded warnings from above.

In 2014, after winning 5 X Games medals, Sammy Carlson abruptly stepped away from competition and dropped out of the Olympic rat race–even as slopestyle skiing was about to make its Winter Olympic debut. Instead, Sammy decided to pursue a new path that would push him and the sport of skiing to new places at all costs.


Sammy’s newfound focus landed in the backcountry, where his drive and creativity could max out far beyond the limits of preset slopestyle courses. The veritable freestyle onslaught that followed–on the world’s mountains, and even on a 240 foot-tall ski flying ramp in Michigan–was unlike any seen before, and would net Sammy three straight X Games Real Ski Backcountry gold medals. The Sammy C Projectdocuments Sammy’s mastery of a new direction for skiing, and shows how convention should never stop you from pursuing the path you believe in.
