News: Freeskiing World Championships Arrive In Kirkwood

The Freeskiing World Championships at Kirkwood will finish off the 2011/'12 Freeskiing World Tour this weekend.

The best freeskiing athletes in the world are making their way to Kirkwood Mountain Resort for the final stop of the 2011-12 Subaru Freeskiing World Tour.  A small storm will be making its way through the area tonight into tomorrow, but then clear skies are scheduled to roll in for the event. Registration and inspection begins Wednesday, with the freeskiing action beginning on Thursday with the qualifier event, where the “unknowns” of the freeskiing world can prove they belong with the world’s best. Last year, Kirkwood local Josh Daiek came in and won the Qualifier, held the lead after Day 1, and won the main event. Will another skier emerge from the Qualifier to challenge for the World Championship? Can anyone stop current tour leader Guerlain Chicherit from claiming his unprecedented third overall Subaru Freeskiing World Tour title?  Will Angel Collinson or Crystal Wright take the overall in the women’s field?
