TETON VILLAGE, WYO. – DECEMBER 14, 2023) Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) today unveiled the athlete lineup for the seventh annual Kings & Queens of Corbet’s ski and snowboard invitational, welcoming back five previous champions and a deep roster of elite athletes who will push the limits of skiing and snowboarding in the Resort’s famous Corbet’s Couloir from Feb. 3-10.
Colby Stevenson (pictured below) and Claire McPherson will both return to JHMR to defend their 2023 crowns, while other past champions Karl Fostvedt (2018 and 2021), Piper Kunst (2021), and Veronica Paulsen (2020) are also slated to compete. The Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition debuted in 2018 featuring equal prize money in an athlete-judged event. Each year new tricks are thrown into the Couloir and throughout the run, such as double backflips, switch spins and cork nines.
Other freestyle skiers who will appear include 2023 Winter X Games Big Air Gold medalist and Olympian Mac Forehand and 2022 Olympic Slopestyle gold medalist Alex Hall. Olympians Yuki Kadono and Torgeir Bergrem highlight the male snowboard category, while four-time Olympian Sarka Pancochova and 19-time Freeride World Tour podium finisher Erika Vikander lead the way among the female snowboarders.
JMHR also announced that it will award a total of $50,000 in prize money for the 2024 Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition, and that separate awards will be given for the top male and female performers in both the ski and snowboard categories for the first time in the event’s history.
The winners in each of the four categories will be awarded $5,000, while the second-place finishers will take home $3,000 and the third-place finishers will claim $2,000. JHMR also announced that a $5,000 bonus will be given to the highest-scoring male and female athlete regardless of discipline, and those two competitors will be named the King and Queen of Corbet’s.
“We are elated with this year’s lineup for the Kings & Queens of Corbet’s, which includes six Olympians, former Kings & Queens champions and some of the most exciting skiers and snowboarders in the industry,” said Jess McMillan, Director of Events and Partnerships at JHMR and the founder of Kings & Queens of Corbet’s. “This year, for the first time, we will have separate categories for skiers and snowboarders, with podiums in each category. At the end of the day the highest scoring male and female athlete in this peer-judged competition will take home the crown and $10,000.”
