Sum Bora, a Cambodian man, was trapped wedged in between rocks for four days before 200 rescue workers freed him in an effort that lasted ten hours. Sum Bora slipped while trying to retrieve his flashlight, which had fallen into a rock crevasse.

Sum Bora had been climbing in a mountainous jungle in an attempt to find guano, bat droppings which are sold as valuable fertilizer. When he didn’t return for three days, Sum Bora’s family became worried and his brother started searching. Eventually Sum Bora’s brother found him and alerted authorities.

200 rescue workers worked for ten hours to destroy bits of the rock that had trapped Sum Bora. After being freed, he was rushed to the hospital because of his weakened state but is expected to make a full recovery.

The rescue workers were specialists from Cambodia’s Rapid Rescue Company 711, which is affiliated with the prime minister’s elite military bodyguard brigade.
