Yesterday, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort announced that Kings & Queens of Corbet's Couloir, one of the season's most famous and anticipated freeskiing contests, will not run this year.

Originally scheduled for Feb 3-10, officials decided that snowpack is not at the required level to run an elite, high-consequence competition like Corbet's. While we are saddened by the news, it's important to remember that although conditions weren't right for the contest, JHMR is still open "wall-to-wall". After the last storm, conditions are firing in Jackson Hole-- just not right for a contest.

For comparison, the  Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational held at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Hawai'i, known as "the Eddie", has run only 10 times in its 38-year history. The safety of athletes is always the number one priority, but it doesn't mean that the waves, or the snow, suck.

We look forward to a successful contest in 2025. In the meantime, get out and find some freshies!
