Kelly Slater Talks About Passing the Torch in TGR and Outside TV’s A Life in Proximity

In Episode 8 of Teton Gravity Research and Outside TV’s “A Life in Proximity,” Kelly Slater and John John Florence go on a mission to the Marshall Islands, a tiny atoll in the South Pacific, to let their surfing inspire each other.

Slater, 45, and arguably the best competition surfer to ever live, sees the 25-year-old Florence and his explosive surfing style as his heir apparent in the competition world. The two have surfed together for over 20 years, but they use this trip as chance to bounce some ideas off one another and embrace the freedom that surfing brings them.
