Freeride mountain biker Kelly McGarry was the kind of person whose influence reached far past just the mountain bike world, thanks to his infectious stoke, down-to-earth personality and outright generosity, not to mention his legendary riding. Contests like Red Bull Rampage would not be the same without his pioneering riding style and absolute massive hucks, like his backflip over the infamous canyon gap in 2015.
McGarry tragically passed away in 2016, near his home around Wakefield, NZ. His legacy has lived on through the Kelly McGarry Foundation, set up by friends and family to support mountain biking in his home country.
