Sean Pettit and K2 Drop the Retro-Futuristic K2000 Line
Popular Stories
Sean Pettit has always been hard to keep track of. After charging the freeskiing scene in the mid-2000s, he spent the last decade moving more quietly; dropping video parts while also working with major brands. Now he’s back with something loud, weird, and definitely Pettit: the K2000 line with K2.
Teased across K2’s social accounts for weeks, the collection mixes retro sci-fi energy with modern construction, essentially matching Pettit’s chaotic, high-style DNA.

A Social Rollout as Bold as the Gear
K2 didn’t just announce K2000; they staged it. Throughout the fall, the brand’s accounts posted cryptic, glitchy teasers that looked pulled straight from a 90s sci-fi VHS archive. Neon grids, wireframes, distorted audio clips, and split-second flashes of ski shapes kept the internet wondering what was coming next.
Meanwhile, Pettit joined in as well, dropping behind-the-scenes shots, prototype photos, and retro edits that matched the line’s aesthetic. The buildup felt intentionally weird and nostalgic, creating a tone long before the gear was even revealed.
When the curtain finally lifted, the visuals hit hard. The skis, boots, and snowboard goods are wrapped in loud retro graphics and saturated color pops, photographed with clean studio lighting and layered with stylized effects; chrome text, hazy glows, and even a few VHS-style glitches. The imagery made it clear the line wasn’t just gear; it was a full-blown aesthetic.

The K2000 AT99S Ski
At the center of the collection is the AT99S, a fresh rework of K2’s Mindbender 99Ti. Pettit added a bi-axial carbon fiber weave under the topsheet for extra stiffness and damping, giving the ski a more powerful, planted feel. It’s built for fast, aggressive skiing with just enough looseness for style when you want it.
The AT130 Boot
Complementing the ski, the limited-edition AT130 boot builds off the Mindbender BOA 130. It features an upgraded liner, dual-BOA closure, walk mode, tech inserts, and a 130 flex. The package is ideal for riders who like to attack every part of the mountain.
Pettit’s Snowboard Era
On top of the ski gear, Pettit’s sideways chapter shows up in full force. He helped create the ATSB snowboard, matching ATSB bindings, and AT92 boots; all carrying the same retro-tech flavor as the skis. K2 has been in the snowboard game for years, but this capsule feels entirely Pettit: bold, weird, cool, and ready for whatever terrain you want to hit.
