Jimmy Chin named Outside’s adventurer of the year

Jimmy Chin's photography and filmmaking skills have inspired all of us by bringing the wild outdoor places closer to home, which is why he was chosen for Outside Magazine's 2017 adventurer of the year award. 

In 2011, he saw his life flash before his eyes as he was caught in a slide that nearly ended his life. After the avalanche, Chin felt an uneasiness about getting back into the mountains. He began to reevaluate his life and remarked, "you can't live your life in fear," as he recouped while surfing in Mexico then returned to the mountains to continue doing what he loves.
