The silence of the off-season is about to be broken by the screech of chairlift cables. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is officially opening for the 2025–2026 winter season this Thursday, December 4th. This highly-anticipated start not only signals the return to Teton Village but also marks the beginning of the resort’s celebratory 60th Anniversary season.

Initial Terrain and Lift Access

After working through early-season challenges, JHMR's continuous snowmaking efforts have paid off. With 65 inches of snow at the summit and 34 inches mid-mountain, guests can expect limited, but quality, coverage across much of the north side of the resort.

For opening day, three key lifts will be operating to access a variety of beginner and intermediate terrain:

  • Teewinot
  • Après Vous
  • Sweetwater Gondola (to the mid-station)

Significantly, the resort is also hoping to announce additional terrain and lift openings for the weekend of December 6th–7th, or sooner if conditions allow. This offers a chance for quicker expansion than originally predicted.

Early Season Reminders: Stay Tight and Stay Safe

As always, with early season openings come necessary precautions. The resort has stressed that early-season conditions still exist. Guests must stick to marked terrain and remain alert for both marked and unmarked hazards.

JHMR will have its Speed Wranglers and Ski Patrol staff on the mountain to enforce safe practices, especially in slow zones and the lower-mountain Family Zones. Taking note of these guidelines ensures a safe season for everyone.

More Than Just Laps: Sightseeing and Celebrations

Even if you aren’t ready to strap in, there is still action to be had. The famous Aerial Tram will be open for sightseeing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from December 5th–7th. This provides a unique chance to ride to the top and grab a legendary Top of the World Waffle from Corbet's Cabin.

The entire season, which is set to run for 129 days until April 12th, will be a celebration of the resort's 60th Anniversary. The official anniversary celebration is slated for December 19th. Furthermore, be aware that JHMR is limiting the sale of daily tickets again this season to manage capacity and enhance the guest experience, so advanced ticket or pass-holder reservations are highly recommended.
