Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) has received the National Ski Areas Association's award for Best Overall Safety Program among resorts with over 500,000 annual visitors.

Ahead of the 2024/25 winter season, Jackson Hole introduced a comprehensive safety and shared responsibility plan aimed at reducing reckless skiing and riding. Developed by the JHMR safety team, the multi-faceted approach emphasized education, operational improvements, and increased accountability.

The resort rolled out a significant expansion of signage highlighting the “Triangle of Safety” — manage your speed, your space, and yourself — which was also integrated across key platforms including the JH Insider App, jacksonhole.com, and all pre-arrival emails. A new safety announcement was introduced on the Tram, and a resort-wide safety video featuring professional skier and TGR Athlete Kai Jones helped reinforce the message throughout the mountain.

As a result of these efforts, in addition to several other safety-focused changes, Jackson Hole reported an 83% increase in interactions between resort employees and guests regarding reckless skiing or riding and a 34% increase in lift access revocation for reckless skiing/riding compared to the 2023-2024 season. The new campaign led the National Ski Areas Association to honor JHMR with the aware for the Best Overall Safety Campaign for resorts with more than 500,000 annual visitors.

“Safety on and off the slopes is our top priority at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. As a result, we knew it was essential to educate our guests and staff about reckless behavior on the slopes, and increase our efforts to crack down on people who potentially endanger others. We are thrilled to be honored by the National Ski Areas Association for our efforts, we will continue to foster this culture of safety and community at the Resort in the years to come, and we are committed to raising awareness about this issue across the entire industry.” – Mary Kate Buckley, CEO of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
