Women’s Mountain Biking Group Highlighted in New Documentary

What began 15 years ago as a modest group of four moms trying to make time once a week to bike has blossomed into a conglomerate of over 160 moms, working professionals, and other women making the time to get out and get after it. The Telus Optik documentary started as a ten-minute piece and quickly evolved into a larger production that sold out a 500-seat auditorium for the premiere.

The subject of the documentary, Dirt Chix, is a group based in Kamloops, British Columbia that is helping women of all ages learn, improve, and enjoy mountain biking while practicing prioritizing themselves. They focus on the human aspect of biking through supporting new members and holistically enjoying time spent outside. They want to bring biking back to its roots and remind us that you don’t have to be an expert athlete in order to enjoy your hobbies. Sometimes all it takes is a weekly Thursday night ride with the ladies.
