Hello everyone and welcome to Show Five of Stumpy's Blast From The Past. In Show Five we explore more of the "odd" comedy that I employed in my early films to hide the fact that I really did not know how to make a ski movie. Keep in mind that in 1986 there was still only Warren Miller making ski movies, so I had nothing to loose by being different from his format... and I mean different. Young unknown skiers and fresh music with a dose of "up yours" to the old guard of ski films was our mantra.
The Show Five clips are the from 1986's Maltese Flamingo. This week we feature some horrendous crashes with blood curdling screams we produced in-studio. Plus some really weird vintage footage turned into ski movie jokes, a bit featuring two friends from the British stage making fun of my film and the ever popular sequence "The secret Life of sleeping Bags." Keep in mind I was 25 when I made this film.
This was also the first movie I produced entirely on film... no video which is ironic as all movies today are back to shooting video.
