I know I am not alone in my great anticipation for this year’s tour. The skill of these athletes riding on the Freeride World Tour is reaching mindboggling levels and is sure to continue progressing. I mean, I am still in shock from some of last year’s highlights (cough, cough Max Hitzig, cough, cough).
The plan was, as usual to start off the season at Baqueira Beret, but after assessing the snow conditions and lackluster forecasts in the Pyrenees, the tour elected to cancel the Baquiera Beret Pro and move the season opener to Verbier, taking advantage of the good snow in the alps. After the cancellation of the Xtreme Verbier last year, riders are FROTHING to get back on out there and rip some Swiss terrain!

FWT Founder, Nicholas Hale-Woods commented on the cancelation, saying,
“We are sad to have to cancel the FWT Baqueira Beret Pro, especially as events here over the last two years have delivered such great starts to the FWT season. As always, weather and snow conditions dictate our decisions, which is a part of the outdoor sports world. Although this is disappointing, we can’t wait to return here next year in January!”

With so much to look forward to, it’s hard to stop our heads from running wild with predictions and hopes for this season – but before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we think it best to just sit and wait for what is surly to be another epic year of the Freeride World Tour!!
