Early this morning, event organized decided to cancel the Freeride World Tour competition in Hakuba, Japan. Cited were extreme weather conditions, including high winds, heavy snow, and icy conditions on the competition face.
“We highly respect the decision that FWT made not to hold the competition in Hakuba as safety is always the first priority. We strongly believe we will have a Freeride World Tour competition next year here in Hakuba and show the best of this region through the incredible lines that all the riders will make,” says Fumitoshi Ohta, the FWT Hakuba Local Organization Committee President.
FWT plans to re-stage the event at one of the upcoming venues: Kicking Horse Golden, BC , Vallnord-Arcalís, Andorra or Fieberbrunn, Austria. The next competition in Kicking Horse is scheduled for Feb. 3-9.
