From Ashland to Eldo: Andrew Gast Takes the Helm at Eldora Mountain Resort
Popular Stories
The Front Range is getting a new face in the alpine. Eldora Mountain Resort has announced Andrew Gast as its new President and General Manager, effective February 1, 2026. Gast makes the move to Colorado after a successful tenure at Oregon’s Mt. Ashland Ski Area. He brings a reputation for operational excellence and a "community-first" leadership style that aligns perfectly with Eldora’s local vibes.
From the Cascades to the Rockies
Gast’s transition comes at a pivotal moment for Eldora. Since joining Mt. Ashland in 2021, Gast was instrumental in transforming the non-profit mountain into a year-round destination. Under his watch, Mt. Ashland saw its first new chairlift in over 35 years and expansions to night lighting and summer operations.
His leadership wasn’t just about infrastructure; it was about connection. Gast became popular in Oregon through his "Andrew in the Alpine" social updates, providing boots on-the-ground reports. POWDR CEO Justin Sibley talked about this "people-first approach" being a major factor in the hiring decision. Eldora continues to balance its role as a premier destination and a backyard mountain for the Boulder and Nederland communities.

Gast is taking over for longtime leader Brent Tregaskis, who retired in May 2025, and interim GM Brian Dobias, who has steered the ship for the past seven months. As Eldora navigates an ownership transition following POWDR’s 2024 announcement to sell the resort, including the possibility of a Nederland-based, community-backed ownership model, Gast’s experience with public-facing, community-supported mountains will be vital.
For Eldora skiers, this means a leader who prioritizes steady hands on busy weekends, careful growth, and keeping the "soul" of the mountain intact while the lifts keep spinning.
