Freak Hailstorm in Mexico Drops 3 Feet of Ice

The last day of June in Guadalajara, Mexico looked a little different than most. What’s typically a packed city bustling with traffic turned into a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie after a freak hailstorm dropped nearly three feet of ice onto the streets overnight. As the day heated up, the ice quickly turned into a slushy mess before flooding the streets and water runoff infrastructure. According to reports, some 50 vehicles were damaged or swept away by the ice. No injuries were reported.

Images show semi-trucks and houses buried by the ice and the cities residents playing in the slush, taking it all in before police and security forces helped to move and manage the runoff.
