FKNA!!
Today was my first day on the BRO, and it rocked.
Steamboat has been awesome for the last week and with a good 6 inchs of fresh overnight it was a great day to go cat-skiing.
I'd been kicked out of the parkade at the resort the night before (thanks Mr. Security guard who woke me up at 3am to kick me out and wouldnt take any of my "dude!, just pretend you havent seen me" ), so I just slept in the van outside the powder cat office.
Steamboat Powder Cats are awesome and well set-up for sit-skiers, so everything went smoothly early this morning as we loaded onto the cat for some major stoke.
The plank of wood for a ramp is a great way to get into the back of the cat. I got in the sitski in the morning, loaded into the cat and stayed in the ski all day, even eating lunch in the hut.
This is a seriously photo heavy post, I would appologise, but fuck it, these pics dont even come close to the awesomeness that was today.
After my last cat trip to Vail Pass I was well prepared for a few wipe outs as my outriggers got caught in the powder again. I havent had a chance to make a set of powder outriggers yet, so had to ski using them as little as possible.
But today was totaly sweet, no wipe-outs at all, just more stoke than you can shake a big stoke-ridden stick at. The pitches were slightly steeper than I had ski'd at Vail, which allowed me to carry more speed and so have enough momentum to bank into turns without falling into the turn. I barely used the outrigger and just rode the powder. The best day skiing I have ever had. Srsly, FKNA, thnx.
Anyway, here's the visual stoke:
When I sink this deep in a sitski, the fancy plastic cover over my legs acts as a shovel in the powder and is a recipe for face shots. It also means that if I stop, I'm stuck. So I dont stop.
Taxi!
