I fucking hate them. I'm not a cow, I don't need a corn husk wrapper, and the only thing you better be putting masa in is tortillas.
You’re not supposed to eat the husks

Oof. There was milk just out of shot. I can’t stress enough how I’m not ripping on our kitchen staff’s fine work. it’s more about the setting and of course the trays. Happy Thanksgiving!

Studded hakkapelitta 9. Not the best for handling and noise, but hard to beat for grip.

grip beats no grip any time in my book.

It must kind feel like a ripoff when one of the tray compartments is empty.

I think you should make a poster compilation of a year's worth of tray food for posterity.

I like how the red paint on the tray has been partially scraped off from forks and spoons of a buncha hungry felons. That tray has some history.

I honestly went down a tray rabbit hole on etsy. I believe it to be a genius retro mod housewares solution for the future.

I don’t “hate” tamales. I just don’t find steamed corn meal to be all that exciting, even if you mix in some pork or other meat.

It's basically flavored gruel. I am so with you on this.

Ironically. I Like tamales. And dislike all warm breakfast gruel.
Oatmeal farina porridge. All if it is warm mush. You can add all the fruit and cinnamon you want. It’s still mush.

Along the same lines, I used to hate grits.. until my redneck Louisiana cousins introduced me to garlic cheese grits.

So maybe there is a tamale out there that I’ll like. Maybe if it had cheese and bacon in it.

My mom is from NM and makes the best damned tamales, a 2-day process. The secret is in the brand of masa. Plus she puts black olives in them and I am so for it.

Now Irish and British food- THAT is disgusting. There's not a single item of Irish food or dishes I like. Ick.

Don’t know about Ireland, since I haven’t been there, yet, but I remember everything I ate while in England tasted great. I mentioned that to my boss, who I was traveling with, and he said it was probably because it was new to me. Looking back, I think about all I was eating at that time in my life was American fast food, so I guess pretty much anything was an improvement over that.

We have had many outstanding meals in the UK and Ireland, but ya, nice restaurants. We don't eat mammals, so mostly seafood and poultry. Your basic fare is likely less appetizing. Had some pretty gross Fish & Chips in London (fucking skin still on the cod) for lunch. Ended up just having a solid breakfast, skip the shite lunch and have a nice dinner for the win.

Does she put a couple of pennies in the bottom of the steamer pot, so she knows when to add more water?
