^^^ My first mountain bike. I had a purple one like that, (lugged), broke it, and they replaced it with a filet brazed silver version. I put a manitou 2 on it, and it was finally stolen. They want $299.99 and I think I paid prolly $600 for the whole bike.

I'm not sure I want that complete bike anymore..

I might pay 300 for a frame if it was like a yo eddy or something...

I kinda want to put one of those fat carbon gravel forks on something.

Gonna have to be more modern for a fat carbon gravel fork. Most at this point that are new are tapered headsets. At the very least it'll be 1 1/8" threadless. Most vintage steel mtbs are 1" steer tubes.

The Mrs sold off her old Land Shark this year. The framebuilder always did crazy, psychedelic, custom paint and he is based out of Eugene, I think. You might be able to find some of those floating around on WA Craigslist. But they probably carry a premium compared to something from a bigger brand.

You occasionally see an old Fat Chance around. Those are worth cool kid points.

    $600 (1992) = $1095 (2018)

    $299 (2018) = $169 (1992)

    seem any more reasonable?

I just have a boner for those old Bridgestones. We like what we like I guess.

If you want specific parts to fit on it, just know what they are before you buy. Because depending on your vintage you could be limited by the frame.

I assume someone would want an old bike to cost almost nothing other wise they could buy an entry level giant with bigger wheels disk brakes yada cuz all the new stuff works better than any of that old stuff did but she said she thinks it will be fun so whatever, building yer own might cost mo money than finding something that doesn't need money thrown at it and what is cool anyway shouldn't one already know?

anyway everyone is here for an opinion or an argument, all the dentists here are getting crotchety/old so deal with it and get off whatever lawn you might be standing on wherever you are

Maybe I'll just put a Bridgestone decal on it and sell it for $1000?

We still have my wife's MB3 sitting in the garage. I should get rid of it, she'll never ride it again. Looks like this one. I think we bought it in 1991 or so.

There are 1" steerer rigid MTB forks available, in 29 or 26" wheel size, with canti/V-brake posts and/or with disc mounts -- so that's an option.

This is all going to get a lot more expensive than it's really worth, just to have some funky bike for riding to the local bar.

I think your 930 is just as cool as an old Bridgestone, if it makes you feel any better.

Now thats what i'm talking about ^^ a 27yr old mtb with a good pedigree

it looks like it has an ahedset which is better than quill cuz its easy to change in any modern fork including a non suspension

it looks like mrs GM rode Goldmember's gold member way > she road that bike

60cm Centurion Dave Scott Ironman. Lugged cro-mo. Late 80s vintage. Shimano 105 components, single biopace chainring up front (set up 1x6 with indexed DT shifter). Epic Sex Pistols eye-melting color scheme. Nitto bars and nitto technomic stem. This would make a tremendous fixie, or just ride it as-is.
talk about a cool old frame.

Thread jack. Anyone familiar with this website https://suspensionforkparts.net/esho...kit-95-96.html
This thread has me thinking I should get my old privateer back in action. It has a 1" threaded quadra 21r.

usually roll this though, which I'm guessing is what mtngirl is generally looking for- fun, old mtb turned cruiser with a couple gears and a basket or some storage for rolling around town and to parties
similar situation too- my buddy loved wrenching on old bikes and found this frame behind his rental house and we built it up with mostly old but some newer stuff.
