Ok, yeah I just heard something passed along from a mutual friend. May just be sour grapes…

Just booked guided days on Feb 20 and 21, with the 2 heli run option on the second day. Really stoked, been wanting to get down there for a while.

If any mags are gonna be around that weekend let me know. I'm going solo, but happy to pair up in a group.

    Silverton Unguided roll call 2021

    Have a great trip Dub2!

We did 3 guided days last weekend. With meager snowfall all month, we were fending for scraps, but we found great snow every day. We checked out several first time runs, like Logjam, Chaser Face, Witch’s Tit, 1/2 Track and Outer Limits. In my opinion, their terrain is the best in Colorado.

    Some GaperPro footage:

We’ll be back for the April 6-10 shift. See you guys on the bootpack.

I didn't do a pass this year but kind of wish I did. Looked pretty good yesterday from the top of Mcmillan. Click image for larger version.

It's been the best after traversing JH->Snowbird,Deer Valley->Silverton->Taos during this last 2 week dry spell.

Anyone have beta for getting to silverton in the winter from Denver?

Is red mountain pass good to go in the winter? Or do most folks head to Durango and then take Molas?

RMP is fine most of the time as long as the auto has decent tires. Even in snowstorms, if you just go slowly, it's doable.

It does occasionally close for control work though, and we're certainly going to have some slides to deal with when it does snow again.

Looks like I will be out there the 31st-2nd. Really hoping for good conditions, been starved of powder in the Tahoe area.

I was there Wednesday thru Friday. It was good but each day got less good but still good. Mainly N facing stuff. S facing needed to warm up a little to soften. Then it was good. Good base but a refresher storm would be nice.

Let me know if you want to get out for a tour. I'll be traveling a bit the first part of the month, but will be around some. I may spring for an unguided day if conditions are good, too.
